Who is Bonga?
I am the co-founder of Zkhiphani.com a media company which publishes a monthly youth magazine and has a cool, trendy online platform. Driven, ambitious, smart and friendly are words you’d use to describe me. I’m what some may term ‘out there’ never shy to engage. I am 29-years old, from Newcastle in KZN and an entrepreneur with major plans to conquer business and many other things.
What’s your typical weekday like?
It begins with an early morning meeting with my business partners and team. We spend about two hours brainstorming and strategising as well as providing feedback on our ventures. From there I schedule tasks for the day, typically I have about two or three meetings around Johannesburg. After attending these I am back at the office, working hard!
What makes you a Man Making Moves?
Hahaha, well firstly I’m under 30 and running a company with diverse interests in media. Zkhiphani has ambitions to branch out to Africa – we want a footprint on the continent. Together with my two business partners, we’ve brought an awesome presence to the youth digital space.
We are all about sharing fashion wisdom, now tell us…what’s the most important style advice you’ve ever received?
Keep it simple, keep it dapper, in essence minimalism is key.
Everyone is different and has their own style DNA …tell us a bit about yours.
I’m what you may call a key buyer. I invest in quality pieces that are timeless yet stylish. I’m a minimalist so I prefer wearing items that don’t clash for attention, instead there needs to be one piece that stands out. You could describe my style as sporty meets nerd, it’s quirky, uncomplicated and perfectly represents my positive personality.
What’s guilty pleasure?
Adidas Originals. I’m a sucker for those.
How many pairs of shoes do you have?
I have about ten pairs, mostly sneakers and formal shoes.
What are your to-go wardrobe staples?
My crisp white shirt it adds an element of sophistication
A pair of denims,
My grey jumper that goes with everything, it’s a winner!
What do you feel most powerful wearing?
Definitely my suit combo. I can dress it down or up with a shirt and bow tie or a plain white t-shirt. For me it oozes power – and speaks volumes about where I’m headed in life.
How has your style evolved in the past 5 years?
When I was a student I didn’t really invest in clothes I was too focused on finishing the course. So my style was really basic, t-shirts and tracksuits and jeans. Now that I’m a full time businessman, I value looking presentable so you’ll find more shirts, formal shoes and pants in my wardrobe. My style has evolved from student basic to entrepreneur minimalism.
What will you never be caught wearing?
Square shoes. Can’t stand them
